Attempting to import a self signed cert on a windows 2003 box
Question:
I have created a cert request through IIS on my 2003 server. Now I am attempting to import this req through the Certification Authority in windows, it gives me an error saying “The request contains no certificate template information. Denied by Policy Module 0×80094801, The request does not contain a certificate template extension or the certificateTemplate request attribute”. I did look in the certifcate Templates MMC and I saw that webserver was “not allowed”. Is this the problem? What is the best way to address this? Microsoft advises that we use a different requester??
Solution:
Are you selecting “or submit an advanced certificate request”?
Try
“Submit a certificate request by using a base-64-encoded CMC or PKCS #10
file, or submit a renewal request by using a base-64-encoded PKCS #7 file”
You then paste in the contents of the certificate request file “certreq.txt”
In the “Certificate Template” section of the page you select “Web Server” -
do you see the others?
Administrator
Basic EFS
EFS Recovery Agent
User
Subordinate Certification Authority
WebServer
