DCPROMO on Windows 2008 R2 64 bit fails

Question:

I have a Windows 2003 Domain with 3 dc’’s.
1 DC with Windows 2003 std. SP2
2 DC’s with Windows 2008 std. 64 bit.
I have run adprep from the Windows 2008 std. 64 bit image with /forestprep, domainprep and rodcprep with success.
I have now installed a Windows 2008 std. 64 bit R2 and added the server to the domain.
I want to make the R2 server a new DC but when I run DCPROMO is says:
“To install a domain controller into this Active Directory forest, you must first prepare the forest using “adprep /forestprep”. The Adprep utility is available on the Windows Server 2008 R2 installation media in the \support\adprepe folder.”
I have then tried to run adprep from the R2 image on the scema master server whtich is one of the Windows 2008 std. 64 servers but then I got this error:
“adprep.exe” is not a valid Win32 application”.
I have also tried to run adprep32.exe with the same error.
???
Regards
Morten

Solution:

The Solution was to run adprep from a Windows 2008 32 bit image.
