Question:
Hi,
I have just registered on this site and i have very basic knowlege about computers.
Anyway, i am having trouble installing windows xp pro on my toshiba portege 2000 laptop which i bought recently from ebay and didn’t came with any cdrom or floppy. Then i bought a PCMCIA F-To-TCD-24L 24x CD ROM drive. Now when i tried to install windows using this drive it booted and loaded all the windows file but after that it shows a error messege starting with STOP 0×0000007B and followed by few other hexa decimal code.
Please help as i need the laptop very urgent.

Solution:
I think you can download the free Drivers from the below links …
Download the file WBOOTESS.EXE at the following address :
http://www.nerdlabs.org/bootdisks/ ; you will find the file at the bottom of the webpage
write a bootdiskette with this file
Download the freecom drivers at the following address :
http://www.freecom.com/ecsupportdetail.asp?serie=PORTABLE+SERIES+I+%26+II&group=10331&interface=1033116 and unzip the ZIP-file to your harddisk
copy the following files to the bootdiskette :
DEVICE.COM ; FCATAPI.SYS ; FCPOINT.EXE ; FCPOINT.INI
REWrite the autoexec.bat and config.sys files on the Bootdiskette , you can edit them on any PC with notepad and save them again.
The files must look like this : use the copy/paste function
autoexec.bat :
@ECHO OFF
PROMPT=$P$G
LH SMARTDRV
REM — FREECOM CD-ROM —
echo Trying to mount PCMCIA drive – please wait …
FCPOINT /F FCPOINT.INI /P:320 > NUL
DEVICE FCATAPI.SYS /D:FCPC0001 /P:320 > NUL
LH MSCDEX /D:FCPC0001 /L:E /M:10
config.sys :
DEVICE=himem.sys /testmem:off
DOS=HIGH,UMB
files=60
buffers=20
stacks=9,256
lastdrive=z
Startup with the new bootdiskette with the CDRom-drive connected and type :
E :
cd i386
winnt
and cross your fingers
If this won’t help copy the entire i386-directory from the XP-installationCD to the harddisk and start winnt from the HD itself
commands :
C:
md i386
cd i386
it will show C:\i386>
than type xcopy E:\i386/*.*
after copying ( takes some time ) start winnt in the C:\i386 directory
