Norton AntiVirus 2003 wont let me dl virus definitions – no longer support 2003
Question:
Any idea how to download and update the virus definitions manually? My definitions subscription expired about 6 months ago and Norton claims to have stop supporting Antivirus 2003. They won’t let me just update my definitions and according to the website I need to buy a whole NEWLY updated antivirus program of theirs. That’s just plain ridiculous. I can’t even purchase a virus definition subscription like how I was doing. I don’t want a whole new program, I just want to update the virus definitions.
If I’ve gotta shell out $$ for a whole new program of theirs then I’m definitely dropping this bloatware and grabbing something like Bit Defender which uses way less resources but and memory than nortons.
Solution:
A personal recommendation would be to drop NAV 2003 (being so heavy on resources!) and try at least two of these free virus scanners, the AVG (grisoft) being particularly good. Periodically you could scan with a different scanner, and update as appropriate. After all, no one scanner can guarantee finding & fixing everything:
