Question:

There exists a user in our domain who is only part of the DOMAIN USERS group. He has RDP access to our SQL server. I know need to give him access to our File Server, however, when he tries to login to it, it says that he does not have access.

I checked the local group “Remote Desktop” on both servers, and they were both empty. I know that in theory I can just add him locally to the file server’s RDP group, but I still need to know how he is having access to the SQL server’s RDP.

All servers are Windows Server 2003

Does the user appear in any other local security groups on the sql server for example administrator group?
