Sharepoint Virtual Directories and Sharepoint Webistes in IIS are deleted

Question:

Hello,

Is there a way to repair the MOSS server so we can get all these files into their locations.  We are not sure what happened but all the virtual directories from C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories are all deleted some how and the Websites under IIS that relate to sharepoint are all gone.  The content still seems to exist in the SQL server.  All the databases that were there before are still there.

We were just thinking that something screwed up the web interface some how.

We also cannot get into the SharePoint Central Admin site as the IIS website for that is also gone.

This is on our production server! so we need to get his back up as soon as possible.

Thank You for your help

Solution:

Hi,

Did you install SharePoint in Basic/Standalone mode, or in Advanced/Farm mode? If the latter it should be fairly straightforward to recover your sites by just removing the server from the farm, then rejoining it to the farm. This will get back your content web applications, and when you run the config wizard to rejoin to the farm, if you choose to host central admin on this server, that will recover your CA site.

I don’t know if this is MOSS or WSS, so let me know if you had an SSP site and we’ll go through that process.
