Hi Experts,

We have a simple email form that needs to send out meeting invitations. At first we thought that we just need to create an iCalendar file (.ics) with the meeting details in it, then attach it to the ASP page generated email. Apparently it didnt work, we just received a simeple mail with an attachment and thats all. We need it to work definitely on Gmail as first requirement, then make it work with Live Mail and Outlook.

Is there something that we need to add to the email headers so that gmail will recognize it as a meeting invitation? Please see the image attached image for reference. The email should contain the Yes/Maybe/No buttons when we receive the mail. We are doing this in ASP Classic, using CDOSys mail component.

Thanks a lot!

Solution:

It should be the actual mail box object. Whichever code works for you, use it. And dont forget to marked as answer.

Question:

Hi,

I have an exchange 2007 (SBS 2008) machine hosting multiple e-mail domains. We have users with multiple domains that need to keep anonymity between them. I need the users to be able to specify which domain an e-mail goes out on (instead of their default smtp address)

How can I do this in Exchange 2007? Is there an add-in?

Solution:

>>”Now, when you say a dummy pop3 account is that an additional AD user?”
No not at all. Just an account within outlook like you would for an ISP. It does not affect licensing at all.
There are no changes to Exchange.

Best bet is to check out the link I provided, it is actually a video showing you every mouse click. Once you have done one it should take about 2 minutes per account to set up.

However, more detail.
You say you are already set up to receive mail for the new domain, and the addresses are set up, and I assume the default is set. That is all there is in Exchange and I assume you have done this.

-On the client machine open outlook and go to the e-mail account window, select create a new POP account. Put in the user name, the user’s new e-mail address, for POP server anything will do it doesn’t even have to exist such as pop.me.com, for the SMTP server put in the Exchange server (server.domain.local), user account and password do not matter because you are not going to authenticate to the POP server but there has to be something or it won’t create the account. Then save. The test button will not work because it is a fake pop server.
-Next after clicking finish go to the e-mail account window again and verify for the new account, at the bottom, it shows “deliver mail to the following location” and it should show your Exchange profile by default. If not select it from the drop down list so that your send messages go the the same Exchange folder and are stored on the server.
-Finally open tools/options and go to the send/receive section locate your new account and un check “receive e-mail items” for this account. Restart Outlook.
-Now when you create a new e-mail there is a second button next to send called accounts. Click on that and you have the option to send from the other account.

When sending from OWA you can only send from your default e-mail account. This only applies to the Outlook client.

Question:

I am looking for an internal messaging/email system that allows all users on the same LAN to communicate with each other, but mostly for global messages from an administrator (with no external communication allowed).

- Preferably it would be more like email than messenger, but that’s not vital.
- The users will be changing computers all the time so their ‘mailbox’ needs to be tied to their username so when they login to a different machine they can see their mail and history.
- If the above is not possible then the mailbox needs to be tied to the computer and a communal mailbox needs to be able to be accessed by anyone who logs on to that computer, they will be able to see a history of messages delivered.
- System does not have outlook or exchange, so the solution cannot be tied to those programs.

Workstations are all XP, domain server is 2003.
Doesn’t have to be a free solution, we are happy to pay for the right application.

Is anyone aware of any software that is capable of this?

Solution:

There are options for email hosting… I would imagine there would be one with some sort of messaging interface built in as well. If not, there are other applications to do that with. Here is an example of some email hosting…

The only way I can think you could get this to work is to create a contact for the gmail account in AD and then create server side rules to forward the mail with the required domains to the users gmail contact.

I know nothing about Microsoft Exchange Server. I”ve tried setting up their emails with pop3 but I can’t get the Outgoing Mail Server to work.

I know this sounds pretty vague but maybe if you ask me the right questions I’ll be able to give you some better info.

Many thanks
JohnF

Solution:

Microsoft Exchange will allow you to host your own email internally, i.e. the mailboxes and data will reside on your server(s).

In summary, you would create the mailboxes on your Exchange server and then change the MX DNS record of your external domain to point to your Exchange Server (public IP address).

My answer is also very vague, but I don’t have much to work with unless you are a little more specific.

I’m happy to help where possible.

Question:

I have to setup a customers MAC where we are going to setup Entourage 2008 with a connection to Exchange 2007.

What the problem is, is that firstly they currently have Entourage 2008 Home and Student installed as a part of Office 2008 Home and Student – Therefore this cannot be used to connect to an exchange account.

I have Entourage 2008 Standard which i can use. What i want to know is:

Can I uninstall just Entourage and install the standard version and leave the rest running?
Secondly, if i uninstall Entourage, is the identity removed and hence all mail etc lost?

Once the correct version of Entourage is installed, and the Exchange account configured, how do I transfer mail, contacts, calendar into the Exchange account for storage on the Exchange Server?

As you can tell im soley a PC user and entourage/mac’s are very foreign to me.

A proceedure would be awesome help!

Solution:

The mail identity is stored with the Documents folder and will be unaffected by uninstalling Entourage. The standard version will recognise the mail identity once it’s installed and you won’t notice much difference other than the appearance of the Exchange option.

If you don’t delete the Entourage prefs when you uninstall you shouldn’t even need to reconnect to the identity, if you do, you may be asked to choose an Identity in which case it’s usually called main identity.

Hey,

A user is using outlook to check her email in the office, which works fine. However, when she tries to use our Outlook Web Access, no emails are coming in. they stopped coming in about a week ago it seems. All other users seem to be updating fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Solution:

This sounds like a local client issue.

1) Open Internet options and Restore Advanced settings on the Advanced tab

then make sure the site is trusted,

2) click the Internet | Protected mode icon at the bottom-middle of the browser to open Internet Security and add the site address to the trusted list.

Finally,

3) Ensure the client machine has an up-to-date current certificate in, tools – options – content – certificates. Remove the one there (if any) and add again. Step 2 should be done first.
