Unable to install/deinstall .NET 2.0 and 3.0
Question:
Greetings!
I’m running XP SP3 (german) with current updates and hotfixes except for .NET. My computer tells me that there’s .NET 1.1 and .NET 3.0 installed, but no .NET 2.0. However, when I’d like to do anything with .NET 3.0 (i.e. deinstall), it fails. Also updates from MS Update regarding .NET 2.0 and 3.0 fail to install. Repairing 3.0 seems to work, there’s no error. But after that, the same problems persist.
I’d like to find a way to get a ‘clean’ computer with no .NET 2.0 and no 3.0 installed, and so I’d be able to install both versions and all the updates and patches.
MS Windows Install Cleanup doesn’t help – it doesn’t remove .NET 3.0 completely. Also Control panel -> Software doesn’t do.
Anyone any hint please?
Solution:
Hi,
First of all why don’t you go for the latest version of .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
http://www.microsoft.com/Net/Download.aspx
For your above issue with .net 3.0 installation, give full control permissions for “Administrators” under the Regedit folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog\Security”
and then reboot system and re run the .net framework 3.0.
