Question:

Hi – I have a list at the parent level (only want to maintain it in one spot) and want to display it on sub-site home pages.  Can’t see a web part that will show me Libraries and Lists that reside on other sites in the collection (sometimes I have to ask our IT department to give me access to web parts that they don’t provide default access to – so I’d need to know the name).

Solution:

It sounds like you’re looking for the Content Query Web Part.  This web part is available only when publishing is turned on for your site.
